Cathedral of the Sacred Heart

Welcome to the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart website!

The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart is located in the heart of the city of Winona and continues a 150 year old tradition of proclaiming the Good News and sharing the love of the Heart of Christ.  Founded in 1950 by the merger of the parishes of St. Thomas and St. Joseph, the Cathedral is the spiritual heir to those who have gone before us.  Their faith, vision and commitment are the foundation on which we continue to build today.   Our recent renovation and the addition of a new entry atrium will allow us to grow as a family rooted in Jesus through our prayer, faith and love.

We are a Stewardship community grounded in gratitude for we have been greatly blessed with abundance.  We seek to return to the Lord our time, talent, and treasure.  We strive to give the Lord our best, not the leftover in our lives.   Our ministries and parish activities reflect the diversity of our membership and our longing to share the love of the Sacred Heart of Christ with all.

As the mother church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Winona, the Cathedral serves as a special place for the liturgical life of the 125,000 Catholics of the Diocese.  Ordinations, confirmations, and special diocesan gatherings all find a home at the Cathedral.  In addition, the newly consecrated Altar of Martyrs and Saints provides a place of pilgrimage and prayer for the entire diocesan church.

We invite you to join us for prayer and worship.  A schedule of weekend and daily Mass times can be found on this site.  Group tours of the Cathedral are available as are pamphlets with guided individual tours.  All are welcome!

Sincerely in Christ,

Fr. Richard M. Colletti
